When Saddam Hussein became President of Iraq in July 1979 after the ouster of Hassan al-Bakr, he was forced to change the boundaries of Islamic Iran 84 times under the pretext of world arrogance that year. In the first offensive, Iraqi Ba'athist forces stormed two villages in Sardasht, killing six.
