The historical Bauhaus is linked with three places, namely Weimar, the place where the Bauhaus was founded in 1919; then with the move to Dessau 1925, and the opening of the Bauhaus building which is known today as an "icon of Modernism" and the masters' houses; and finally with its closure by the National Socialists in Berlin 1933.
