Based on transcriptions of witch interrogations from early modern times, the work presents a regionally differentiated documentation and examination of German official language. The 54 representativetranscripts from witch interrogation trials between 1580 and 1650, edited here for the first time, were takenfrom Swiss, German, and Austrian archives in order to best represent all language regions of the German-speaking area. Because the interrogations were carried out and recorded according to a schematized list of questions, this corpus represents a uniquesource for examining regional official language.
