These letters in the third of four volumes cover his time there and provide a great deal of material about Newman and the early years of the school, which was later to become University College Dublin. Renouf was later to become the Keeper of Egyptian and Assyrian Antiquities at the British Museum and translator of the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
