Beschreibung:
This book explores what makes a book readable by bringing together the relevant literature and theories, and situating them within a unified account. It provides a single resource that offers a principled discussion of the issues and their applications.
Readability is the topic of many journal articles, attesting to a widespread interest in this topic. However, despite this ongoing interest, few recent books have been published on this topic. Moreover, there have been no books that provide a unified and comprehensive account of the multiplicity of factors that affect readability. The few books that have appeared in the last twenty years with the Library of Congress subject heading, Readability (Literary Style) have been basic practical guides or have focused on the skills of readers rather than the properties of texts.
