Beschreibung:
This book endeavors to show that the Judaeo-Christian religion, far from being the sober, duty-bound system many assume it to be, is actually one in which pleasure, in its widest meaning, is not anathema but is for the most part approved and even coveted. After a look at philosophical hedonism the book examines the possibility of a christian hedonism, using the Bible, the history of Christian thought, and contemporary christian thought and practice. Jonathan Edwards is seen as one who best stated such a Christian hedonism.
