Heat disposal and the sources of thermal discharges; the physical effects of thermal discharges; effects of thermal discharges on water chemistry; experimental studies and the predicted biological effects of thermal discharges; bacteria, fungi and other heterotrophs; algae and macrophytes; rotifera and micro-crustacea; macro-invertebrates; vertebrates; combined effects, uses of waste heat, thermal criteria and the law.
